ABOUT ME

Dr JBF Cilliers is a well-known Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based in Mediclinic Bloemfontein. He is a registered Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with more than 21 years of experience in his field. His practice is known for compassion, reliability and availability.

He specializes in Fetal-Medicine, a particular field of obstetrics that deals with pre-existing health concerns in women, as well as with complications caused by pregnancy. He has a specific interest and is passionate about taking care of women with complicated or high-risk pregnancies.

Dr Cilliers was part of Femspes since 2001, and he established his own private practice in 2013. His practice performs many second opinion sonars, and he regularly receives referrals from other Gynaecologists, as there are not many Fetal-specialists in public and private healthcare.

He obtained his MBChB Degree in 1991 from the University of the Free State and his Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2001, which he passed Cum Laude.

Dr Cilliers was head of the Maternal-Fetal Unit at Universitas Hospital from 2001 to 2013.

One of his accomplishments was when Dr Cilliers presented the 11th National Congress of the South African Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also co-author with colleagues of two published books – “Clinical Obstetrics a South African Perspective” - third & fourth edition.
